Before & After

Brows

Brow Pre-Care

Prior to your brow appointment, think about the look that you wish to achieve. As an expert in the field, I will ensure that the correct colors and styles are chosen for you; however you are part of the decision-making process.

You can lose up to 50% of color after the first appointment, which is why a 6 week follow up appointment is necessary.

Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the appointment. This will subside and become softer as the skin heals. This process takes anywhere between 7-14 days. Prepare for your brows to scab over and flake off during the healing stage.

Since delicate skin or sensitive areas can get a little inflamed or red, it’s advised to not make social plans on the day of your appointment and possibly the following day.

Please wear your normal make-up to your appointment.

Please refrain from all activities that may cause irritation of the skin or thinning of the blood prior to your appointment. These activities include, but are not limited to:

-Refraining from caffeine consumption 24 hours before your appointment

-Refraining from alcohol consumption 48 hours before your appointment

-Refraining from exercise before and after your appointment (see details in aftercare)

-Refraining from sun tanning, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, laser treatments, and chemical peels 7-10 days before your appointment

-Refraining from all medications that cause thinning of the blood for 48 hours including but not limited to: Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen. Please consult your physician before stopping any medications.

-Refraining from waxing, tinting & laser hair removal 2 weeks prior to your appointment

-Refraining from the use of skincare products containing Retin A and AHA around the brow area

-Discontinuing use of isotretinoin (Accutane) 12 months prior to appointment

Brow Aftercare

The color will get slightly darker the day after your appointment because as your skin starts healing, it will lightly scab over the areas we added color to. It’s important to follow the aftercare until all scabs have fully flaked off to ensure proper healing and preservation of color during the healing process. You will not see the true color until all the scabs have flaked off and 4-6 weeks have passed.

The area treated may show redness and swelling and the color may appear dark and intense – this is normal.

You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area, this is normal and will subside. If you find any lymphatic fluid or blood weeping, you can gently clean the area with some water and a cotton round. Blot gently until dry to remove any moisture. Do this every few hours after your appointment.

The best way to let your brows heal is to leave them undisturbed and only touch them when you’re cleaning them or applying the aftercare balm. Failure to do so will cause more color to fade, resulting in extra touch-ups.

DO NOT Exercise or participate in any activity that causes you to sweat or raises your body temperature for about 7 days or until brows are fully healed (tap brows with water & cotton round if it occurs, in order to remove the salt in the sweat from your brows)

DO NOT get brows wet with water unless cleaning them

DO NOT wear any makeup on the brow area until brows are fully healed -DO NOT touch, pick or pull at the treated area

With clean hands and a q-tip, apply a THIN layer of aftercare balm to the brows before you shower to protect the treated area. You may also apply the aftercare balm in the first few days if the area feels tight or itchy. ALWAYS ensure the ointment is a very THIN layer and the size of a rice grain.

Clean the brow area once a day in the morning for the first four days with the cleanser I provided. Clean the brows in a circular motion and with a very gentle touch. Make sure the soap is washed off and dab it dry with a cotton round. This should be the only time you put water directly on your brows during the healing stage. For those who only have microblading strokes, no washing is required.

What to expect:

After the fine scabbing has sloughed off, you will see a different hue to the color implanted and the strokes/color will appear more natural & soft. Your brows will go through stages of too dark, (fresh) to too light, (immediately after healing). The color will start coming back as the weeks progress, though it may take up to 6 full weeks to return completely. This is why you shouldn’t judge the brows until a full 6 weeks have passed after your appointment.

Additional treatments cannot be undertaken until the area has completely healed in the 6 week timeframe.

Approximately 7-14 days after the appointment, consider using a waterproof sunblock when going out in the sun to prevent the color from fading.

Strong chemicals or glycolic acid/peels of any kind may cause the pigment to lighten. Always call and check with your consultant if in any doubt.

Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor after, if needed. Always keep the Aquaphor at a thin layer.

Cleanse the eyeliner with a q-tip and the cleanser I provide once a day in the morning with light circular motions alongside the tattooed area. Rinse with water and apply a thin layer of Aquaphor if the area is sensitive.

Avoid excessive sweating, sun/salon tanning, sun exposure, laser or chemical treatments. Avoid touching, picking or pulling at the treated area.

Purchase a brand new tube of mascara for post-healing. Do not wear makeup on the eye area until it’s fully healed.

Lips

Lip Blush Pre-Care

Think of lip blushing as a lip tint, rather than a lipstick look. We will have a consultation the day of your appointment to discuss different colors/tones, but if you have a lipstick or gloss that you like the color of, bring it to your appointment.

Do not book your lip blush appointment within a few days of a special event. A few days of downtime is required following your initial appointment.

A week leading up to your appointment, make sure you stay hydrated and keep your lips moisturized daily, preferably with Aquaphor.

Gently exfoliate your lips at least twice the week prior to your appointment and the night before. DIY sugar lip scrub:
-1 tbsp coconut oil
– 2 tsp sugar
-1 tsp honey

Combine ingredients & gently rub into lips in a circular motion for one minute, rinse with warm water, and apply Aquaphor or a lip moisturizer.

Please refrain from all activities that may cause irritation of the skin or thinning of the blood prior to your appointment. These activities include:

-Refraining from caffeine consumption 24 hours before your appointment

-Refraining from alcohol consumption 24 hours before your appointment

-Refraining from exercise before and after your appointment (see details in aftercare)

-Refraining from sun tanning, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, laser treatments, and chemical peels 7-10 days before your appointment.

-Refraining from all medications that cause thinning of the blood including, but not limited to: Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen. Please consult your physician before stopping any medications.

-Discontinuing use of isotretinoin (Accutane) 12 months prior to appointment

IMPORTANT NOTICE

If you have experienced a cold sore in or around the mouth EVER in your life (80% of the population has), you MUST take Valtrex or a cold sore medication prescribed by your doctor at least 3 days prior to, the day of, and 3 days after receiving this treatment. Failure to follow these instructions can result in an outbreak that can affect the healing process. If you have not had a cold sore and are 100% sure, it’s still advised to take a lysine supplement, which you can get over the counter for extra precautions. If you fail to do so, we WILL need to reschedule your appointment and you will lose your deposit. Following these directions is vital for your lips to heal smoothly. Message me for any questions or if you don’t have access to a doctor.

Lip Blush Aftercare

The color will get darker the day after your appointment because as your lips start healing, they will lightly scab over on the areas we added color to. It’s important to follow the aftercare until all scabs have fully flaked off to ensure everything heals properly and you don’t lose color during the healing process. You will not see the true color until all the scabs have flaked off and 4-6 weeks have passed.

Until your lips have fully healed and no longer feel “chapped:”
-avoid kissing, rubbing, or any friction on your lips.
-avoid spicy, salty, oily, or heavily seasoned foods and drink with a straw.
-avoid excessive sweating, sun/salon tanning, sun exposure, laser or chemical treatments
-avoid any cream containing Retin-A or glycolic acid around the mouth
-After eating, gently rinse and cleanse lips with water, pat dry, and re-apply the Aquaphor ointment

Day 1: Gently pat lips with wet cotton round every few hours & moisturize with the ointment I provide you with.

Days 2-4 or until fully healed (no scabs left): Gently wash lips once a day in the morning with the cleanser I provide in a circular motion and very soft touch, rinse off, pat dry, and moisturize with a thin layer of the ointment as many times as needed throughout the day. When washing, don’t rub the lips too hard trying to get scabs to come off faster than the time is needed to heal. Some scabs will come off as you wash them, but not all of them at once. Be patient with this as rubbing them too hard will cause the color to disappear and not heal even.

Do NOT pick, pull or mess with the scabs as they heal or it will result in color loss.

Your lips will go through a color phase where they appear too dark, (fresh) to too light, (immediately after healing) then just right (about 4-6 weeks after the appointment).

What to expect:

Immediately after:

Your color will look a lot brighter (like a lipstick) and you may experience swelling on your lips. They will feel dry and sensitive to the touch. I would advise against scheduling any important events for the rest of the day after your appointment.

Day 2 & 3:

The swelling will go down by day 2, but your lips will still appear brighter until they fully heal. They will feel dry and tight.

Days 4-7:

Your lips will go through a peeling phase. They will feel super chapped, and the color will slowly start to lighten in different parts of the lips.

After they heal:

Your lips have healed but the effects of the numbing cream will cause your lips to feel dry for about 2+ weeks, which makes your color appear lighter. Be patient at this time because your color will take about 3-6 weeks to fully return. You will notice more color returning as the weeks go by. You may return to normal routines but still be gentle with your lips for up to 6 weeks. I recommend keeping them moisturized for the full 6 weeks after they have healed.
