What is the difference between permanent makeup and a tattoo?
Permanent makeup is semi-permanent, meaning it will fade away with time, unlike tattoos that go deeper into the skin and are permanent. The permanent makeup pigments (ink) are designed to look very natural.
How long does permanent makeup last?
It varies with each service, but, on average, around 2-4 years. Touch-ups are always available for a lower price to maintain the color. If you do not get touch-ups, the color will fade away naturally with time.
Is permanent makeup painful?
I pre-numb all my clients with a strong numbing cream and maintain numbness during the appointment. A very soft hand is used while I am working on the top surface of your skin. You might experience some discomfort during the first pass, but it becomes more tolerable as the process continues and I ensure you’re comfortable the entire time. I’ve had clients fall asleep during the appointment.
When should I get permanent makeup done if I have an event?
You should get it done as far ahead as possible. The true color is not seen for about 4 weeks after the appointment. While healing, you will also go through a scabbing/flaking phase, which is different for everyone and can last 5-14 days, depending on the service. If you’re going on vacation where you will be around water, you should do it at least 2 weeks before travel to provide enough time for your permanent makeup to heal properly. There is also a 6-week touch-up for certain services, so make sure you are planning accordingly with the healing timeline in mind.
Do I need a consultation before booking an appointment?
No, we will have a consultation in person before we start your appointment. Make sure you read through the before/aftercare of the service you will get and that will answer any questions that you may have. If you would like to have a consultation beforehand, reach out to me.
What is your late policy?
If a client is more than 15 minutes late without prior notice, we will consider this a missed appointment. A new deposit will need to be paid to reschedule.
What if I need to reschedule?
In the event a client reschedules their appointment (prior to the 72-hour notice window), the original deposit can be moved to a new session within 3 months of the original booked date. After 3 months, a new deposit is required to book an appointment.
Are there any risks of infection if I get permanent makeup?
All treatments are carried out using the strictest of hygiene standards. All the supplies I use are only used once and thrown away. Using disposable supplies eliminates the risk of infection. Make sure you follow the aftercare instructions provided to even greatly reduce infection risks.
Can I get a touch-up even though I’ve already had permanent makeup done by someone else?
Yes, in most cases. Reach out to me first. We will need to do 2 sessions to correct any previous work, so it will be charged as a new client price. If the work is too saturated or too dark, we may need to do a removal session first.
Can I get permanent makeup if I am pregnant?
Unfortunately, no. This is a precaution I take and will not make any exceptions.
How do you choose my brow color/shape?
We will have a consultation in person about the look you wish to achieve and I will draw the shape for you and talk about colors before we begin. If you’re afraid to commit, we can always start with a natural look & build on more during the touch-up appointment.
What is lip blushing?
Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo that can last up to 3 years. I use a machine to create tiny specks of color over your natural lip tissue. This produces a soft and subtle blush of color that helps define your lip shape and give the appearance of fuller, plumper, and flushed lips. The lip color is customized to each client and based on their natural lip color, undertone and skin tone. Think of this as a tinted lip gloss, not a lipstick.
What colors are available for lip blushing?
A wide range of tones in the pink, mauve, nude, coral, and red families are available to create a customized shade. There are more options with color correction as well. With correction, we have the option to lighten darker lips or neutralize different tones of colors in the natural lip. If you have a lipstick or lip gloss you love, we can create a customized color to match that shade.
What if I have or want lip filler?
You need to wait 6 weeks before and/or after your filler appointment to get lip blushing. It is actually recommended to get lip blushing after filler because filler causes your lip tissues to stretch, resulting in a lighter appearance of your natural lip color.
